St Lucia Celebration
St Andrew's Church
(as part of the Exe Swedes Swedish Choir/Lucia singers)
Celebrating it's 10th running year in Exeter, the annual Swedish St Lucia Procession takes place on one of the longest nights of the year. For this performance Ulrika-Igraine will be the Lucia, the personification of the Catholic saint, St Lucy, a Christian martyr who died during the Diocletianic Persecution. The Lucia, the angelic chorus, and the star boys (representing the wise men of the orient) will fill the darkness with sound and light, a promise of good things to come and of course, bring traditional saffron buns and ginger biscuits to share with the audience afterwards. This wonderful Swedish event was brought to Exeter by Swedish singer/songwriter Rosa Rebecka who has organised it every year since 2005.
